AN OPEN LETTER TO THE OCCUPY WALL STREET PROTESTERS -or- How living from paycheck to paycheck has turned me into a sad, stressed **shole.

  1. You certainly don't look like you have aged 5 years! :-)

Things will work out.....you are an amazing person, and at somepoint all the hard work and the positive energy you put into everything you do will pay back and you will find that bit of luck you need, because you will make it happen.

Sorry to hear things are so tough right now, but they will turn around. Hang in there!

    Thinking of you, take care,

    Lodsa love

  3. Oh Julie dear, so hard to see you and hear you talk so openly about what you are going through. You are amazingly beautiful, brilliant, and passionate; I have no doubt that things will turn around for you, that you'll catch your "break", and that you'll pay it forward and help countless others out. It's just a matter of time. Keep your head up.

    Hugs, hugs,
    p.

  4. Julie thanks for your openness. It's really touching to hear the experiences you have been through and bringing home the experiences of others. I can't say anything more but to let you know how touched i am and that i'm sending you lots of positive energy your way so that 2012 will see things picking up for you.

    Lots of love,
    Bilu

  5. Thanks so much for saying what most of us have felt or are feeling right now, living paycheck to paycheck. It is one of the reasons I have left the US. There is absolutely no reason for people to be living like they are, but I am hopeful that things will change.

If you get too tired of it though, consider leaving. There are many opportunities abroad, specially in Asia. Check out this one for example: http://www.tefllife.com/special-disney-project -- maybe I found this link yesterday for you. <3

Much love and positive energy your way.

  6. Dear Julie,

I must agree with Simon. You are as gorgeous as ever. In fact, you are as gorgeous, powerful and wonderful as ever!

I know what you're going through and I wish that you had been luckier than you have been this year because you definitely deserve only good things. I have been living paycheck to paycheck since I moved to New York last November as well. AND I will continue living paycheck to paycheck for I'm not sure how long but for approximately the next ten years. At least, I hope I'll continue to have a paycheck. I have been lucky enough to have a fulfilling job but can't afford grapes or strawberries either. I make barely enough to pay for rent and bills and have sometimes had to use my credit card to buy groceries. Also, living in New York is not as great when you can't afford to enjoy what it has to offer and what makes it such a great city to live in for others. It's depressing and frustrating sometimes but I try to think of my parents and what they've been through and of the women I work with and what they've been through and that is what helps me get through the toughest days. Fabrice has helped too. I feel guilty when it is difficult for me to be thankful BUT the fact that other people have it worse does not mean that our concerns, frustrations, and stresses are not valid as well. You certainly do not sound like a spoiled anything. I'm sending you good vibes and know that things will get better and know that you will soon have a job that is not only fulfilling but that will allow you to pay for rent, bills, groceries, and then some.

I completely agree with you. I agree that everyone should be able to see a doctor when they're not feeling well, everyone should have their basic needs met, and things really need to start changing in this country in a positive and sustainable way.

Please know that you and Yann have a free place to stay and free food in New York if you ever can have and need a break from D.C.

    Love,

    Wendy

  7. I have the best friends in the world! Thank you all for your love and support; you mean the world to me!

I am so thankful for many things, my friends included! I am still fortunate, I just want people to talk about how hard it is. When a billionaire can buy an $88 million apartment for his daughter in New York while some families cannot even afford diapers for their babies--something is REALLY wrong. Things need to change.

Thank you all for for reading and caring so much about me...your feelings are returned!!

  8. Julie, you are amazing!!!
Send your "spot" to the WHITE HOUSE and to every Republican candidate for President. They are the ones who need to hear your voice.

  9. Julie, it's hard to see you and hear you while you're going trough such a bad time. Believe me when I say that I wish I could do more that just listen to you, that I wish I could hold you right now and tell you that everything is going to be ok, that you shouldn't be scared for tomorrow's paycheck.

In Spain the "occupy movement" was called "Los indignados" that was the one that arrived to Mexico in a much shorter scale. The mere word "the indignant" (I don't know if you can pluralize it), or in a better translation "the ones that became indignanted" describes for me the situation you're living, and the one you're describing about the family that couldn't buy diapers. Not being able to satisfy your primal needs, when, as you say, a billionaire can spend $88 million dollars apartment for a daughter, of half the population of the world is stupidly caught on how the Kardashian make fools out of themselves on TV, living a spoiled life, spending thousands of dollars every day, while they have international complains about the human rights conditions of their business overseas, makes you indeed feel outraged, and wonder what the hell has happened to this world, to the country you're living in, when people tell you to consider to try your luck elsewhere? Wasn't' this the country of freedom and opportunities? Isn't this the place where people from Latin America struggle to get in to, to find a better living, and a way to feed their families?

Something is definitely wrong, and not only in the US, but in the entire world, we are living the globalization of poverty, where a few live wealthy lives out of everybody else. The problem is that this 99% is a majority that everyday more has less to loose and therefore is able to sacrifice more, that may turn around things in a close future in one way or the other... Let's hope it happens in a peaceful way.

July, I'm with you. I would like to do more than just write nice words to you, but for now you have my solidarity.

    Love you girl!

    Patricia.
